Japanese knotweed

Valuer will assess properties affected by this invasive plant and categorise it A to D in accordance with the RICS guidance.

  • Category A: Additional inspection to be carried out by a PCA registered (or similarly qualified) firm. We will require an Insurance guarantee backed treatment plan, that must be confirmed prior to completion. Guarantee must be for at least 10 years, and the benefits assignable (i.e. transferable) to subsequent proprietors, or mortgagee in possession.
  • Category B: If there is minor damage to outbuildings, pathways, boundary walls/fences, and this is minor, then same as Category C/D.
  • Category C and D: Valuer will provide attempt to provide a valuation to us if the knotweed doesn’t negatively impact security
